I bought it to replace an 8 year old Hitachi pancake compressor that still worked but was getting a little tired. This type of compressor works great for a handy man or low air use applications. I use it daily to run 2 finish nail guns and I have never had a problem with not enough air. It runs well on a 15 amp circuit and starts well in the cold weather. If you need to run multiple framing or roofing guns look for a bigger compressor.
I also own a Porter Cable and Bostich compressor. The PC is the lightest and quietest, but I just broke the regulator off by hitting it with an empty plastic garbage can. I don't think they are made to hold up to daily use. The Bostich is the loudest of the 3. I haven't used it much, I bought it to stay at the cabin. I can't rate it's longevity or how it holds up to repeated use and abuse. However, for the homeowner this is an excellent compressor. It is quieter than most any comparable unit, though that does not mean it doesn't make noise. I don't have to yell when it is on and I'm right next to it, however. The drain valve is convenient and easy to use (why don't other's have the same?). It comes with the gauges already installed, though if they had included a moisture filter it would have been the icing on the cake. The machine weighs about 50lbs. so it isn't exactly light but not so heavy that it can't be moved around all over the place. It can shoot about a dozen nails from a framing nailer before recovering. You can top off all the tires on a couple of cars easily without having to let it fill up again.
