The Porter-Cable 15 Amp 3-1/2-Horsepower 20-Gallon Oil-Free Hot Dog Compressor features a high-pressure tank design that allows for longer run times between refills -- it's like being able to fit 49-gallons of air in a 20-gallon tank. The tank also features a shroud with an integrated air intake filter that improves cooling, and a High-FloSM air regulator (145 PSI start and 175 PSI stop pressure switch) with 4 High-FloSM quick connect couplers. There's also a 120 Volt high-torque induction motor for reliable starting, and the tank features longer life and quieter operation with the included 4-pole 1725 RPM motor. Additionally, the tank features a fold down handle for ease of storage and transportation, and comes with a 1-year limited manufacturer's warranty. What's in the Box

Summary: Excellent Compressor - Poor Packing from Porter-Cable 2008-05-02
Comment: Porter-Cable has an excellent reputation. Based on this, and Amazon I purchased this Compressor - with the 4 outlets (hoses hook-ups). My last compressor died after 30 yrs of use - old-age. The Porter-Cable features allows 4 hose hook-ups at the same time, with the 20gal tank, low noise level, compact and handle that swings out of the way. BUT, the handle was broken - along with the housing for the hoses, one of the brass nozzles was sheered off, the plastic motor housing was askew - taking that off to check the motor for damage found that the PLASTIC mount under the housing was sheered off. THE POOR PACKAGING BY PORTER CABLE, NO STYROFOAM OR WOOD PACKING MATERIAL SO THAT THE SHIPPING COULD NOT DAMAGE THE PRODUCT - WAS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND IN THE BOX - THE COMPRESSOR WENT THRU THE OUTER BOX AND I RECEIVED IT STANDING ON ITS HEAD UPSIDEDOWN!!!!
AMAZON reimbursed me for my fixing the compressor- Thank You. I did not want to ship it back, i knew i could fix the damages - and did. THE COMPRESSOR IS AN EXCELLENT PURCHASE - but Porter Cable does not get a GOOD GOLD STAR for EFFECIENT PACKAGING - it was packed for quick warehouse delivery not for cross-crountry.
the compressor itself, now that i fixed the damages - will last me about 30 yrs. I plan to paint my new studio, my garage, my house with the sprayers - and much more with all the projects that i have and will have, for years to come.

Summary: Great compressor! Top Notch! 2006-07-04
Comment: This compressor comes with a 4-port air regulator, which lets you run 4 tools at once from the compressor. (most cheaper compressors do not even come with a regulator, let alone a 4-port connection)
It is very well built and easy to maneuver. The specs say 82db for operating noise -- I just know it is relatively quiet. The two-stage motor is quieter and more reliable than cheaper single-stage motors. So, you may pay more for this compressor, but you get a better machine!
If you are a contractor or a homeowner, this is a great compressor.
