I bought this compressor to be replace a yellow compact compressor that failed me with a leaky regulator and couldn't be fixed for less than the cost of a new unit. The Rolair brand holds esteem in the construction trades as a quality real work compressor and this one totally rocks. comes up to pressure super fast, about 15 seconds. I'd say it's on the quieter side of your average compressor of similar size or i should say I find it less loud. the regulator works very well and precise to dial in your pressure and has a stop ring to keep it locked in too. It does not come with a hose coupling and the one I received was set up different from the picture in that the gauge pointed up and the adjusting dial pointed forward but you can see where the coupling goes in the photo and when I installed the coupling it sticks out beyond the footprint of the compressor. I purchased this to replace another portable unit that I had borrowed. I knew about the Rol-Air brand because when I was in college I worked as a roofer and all of the gas powered units that we used were Rol-Air's.

The first unit that I received had a crack in the crankcase. Thankfully, the company I ordered it from via Amazon (Acme Tool) determined that this was a defect/ damaged in shipping and paid to ship back the unit and shipped me a new one the same day.

As for second one, it is awesome! The noise factor is similar to other electric compressors that I have used. The thing that impresses me is the the recovery time on this unit. It is the fastest unit that I have seen with getting to pressure, maintaining pressure, and recovering after use. I have used it with a roofing coil nailer and a couple of brad nailers and have not had any issues.
