Summary: Best Tool Ever.!!!!!!!!!! 2008-02-02
Comment: I bought my first Thomas compressor back in 1983, red in color. I used it on housing tracks doing production interior trim with a crew for many years. This compressor can handle 3 nail guns working all day long. Hanging doors, closet trim, baseboards, crown molding, cabinets. It worked for me doing items such as texuring with a hand held hopper, fences, roofs, exterior siding, also used it for auto use with air tools & a neighbor borrowed it to paint his car with it. This commpressor has sat outside in the rain, works even laying on it side. Been knocked around in the bed of my truck, dropped, spray painted, loaded job materials on top of it. It's been ran into by my vehicle sitting in the garage, I've used it with 150ft extention cord, It's been rebuilt and/or worked on numerous times( Easy to work on) and I still have it today and it's still working. I have been in construction for 29 years. There are cheaper compressors on the market, but when it comes to making a living and having to rely on equipment day after day it pays to get the best and Thomas compressor's are the best. Strong, Durable, Made in the USA. Parts are easy to find including my now 24 year old compressor, try that with other compressors. Would I buy again- YES!!!!!!!!!

Summary: takes a licking 2006-12-24
Comment: I purchased my Thomas in 1984. Im a finish carpenter and this unit was used a lot, many times running 3 finish guns. The other guys had the loudest compressors known to man. I kept it in the back of my truck with a chain thru the leg and a padlock, it was the first thing theives wud try to steal, often had it hanging out the side of the truck after the chain grew tight. I only have a few complaints and that is the plastic handle broke soon after I got it, and the guages all broke off as they are not protected by any kind of cage. Anyway the thing finally gave it up the other day, made some hellacous noise then just kept running but wudnt pump air, Hell its 27 yrs old, shud I try to repair it or just get a new one? But im 55 yrs old do I really need something that will out last me? Haha. Im looking at the 1/2 horsepower hotdog unit but darn their out of stock. In the meantime im using this Cambell Housfield unit that will literaly blow ur ears out, I set the damn thing out in the yard and run a feeder house inside and shut the door. My Thomas wud be inside and u cud actually hav a conversation with the homeowner with it running.
My unit was red and only 1 horsepower, I noticed they bumped up the power a bit but mine had all the power u cud need and wud run off of small generators wen other compressors wudnt. So yea I wud recomend.

Summary: Quiet is the best part 2004-10-25
Comment: Well we all know that there is enough noise in the shop. I have had other compressors and you can't hear yourself think when they turn on. Well not this one. Sure you can hear it but it it nothing like other compressors.... I liked it well enough that I orded another one for my other shop I am setting up.... It is a little pricey but I thoght the differance was worth it..... Don't hesitate, remember you usually get what you pay for.

Summary: Trust the Reviews on the T-30 2004-08-24
Comment: This is one neat little unit! Compact, QUIET, and very well made.

Let me first begin by addressing the ordering/shipping process. I decided after much review time to order the T-30 on 8/20/04. On 8/23/04, the unit arrived at my doorstep (Wisconsin to South Carolina). Keep in mind that there were two weekend days involved in this timeframe. It's hard to fuss about a duration that short!

As for the unit itself, the package did arrive (FedEx) with the top of the box opened. All contents however were intact (no damage at all). After a quick review of the instructions, I twisted on an air filter (supplied with the unit), ran to the hardware store and installed a quick disconnect. I powered the unit up and turned a switch, in less than a minute the unit was fully pressurized at EXACTLY 125 psi as noted in the manual.

My wife was on the phone in the adjoining room (door open) and commented after ending her conversation on how quiet the unit was during the pressurizing process. After dinner, I noted that the gauge was resting steady on 125 psi. I connected an air nozzle to the end and bled the unit down. The motor kicked in at EXACTLY 100 psi (as noted in the manual). After 14 QUIET seconds, the unit was resting steady again at 125 psi. I tried it again, same story. I can't wait to see how this unit performs in the shop!

As for first glance, this unit is well worth the extra $'s compared to any others I reviewed. And trust me, I think I checked out every comparable unit on the WEB. You won't go wrong with this set-up. I spent $294 (shipping included) with Amazon and had the unit ready to go in 3 days. Now that's tough to beat!
