This review is from: Thomas T-635HT Renegade Air Compressor (Tools & Home Improvement) I bought this compressor based on great reviews for Thomas products on Amazon. There were no reviews for this model at the time and I had never seen one before. I do finish carpentry and was looking for a light, quiet compressor that was more substantial than the mini Senco or Dewalt models but could carry easily. I assumed it was made in the U.S. but it doesn't say it anywhere on the unit. I am mostly happy after almost a year of use. Some disappointments are; I've had trouble with it starting up on some 15 amp circuits- even directly plugged into the wall (and after draining it and opening the drain valve and only days old). It has trouble with cold starts at times, despite sticker on tank that says "cold weather starts". It is not loud but I wouldn't call mine "quiet". You can talk over it but not at normal levels. I worked with another carpenter who had the Thomas 2 gallon, 3.7 amp model yesterday and his was noticeably quieter. Not a huge deal though. I own a larger Thomas 4 gallon twin stack and I love it. Great power, low noise, always reliable. I couldn't imagine any compressor more desireable until I met this smaller beauty.
Only 27 lbs, 14"x14"x12" and able run a framing gun all day. Only 6 amp draw so it can be used anywhere and rated for 100% duty cycle (continuous running, if needed)Recovery time is under 15 seconds. This is a great indoor machine (easy to move and maneuver) so you can do simple trim projects or punch list items. The quiet running, quick recovery and compact dimensions make it great for work in a home while people are around. The other side of the coin is the amount of power it shows when you need to do framing or roofing. This is not a toy compressor in any way. It is perfect to take on most any job, or a job with lots of changing requirements. The reliability has been 100% (it is...Read more 7 of 7 people found the following review helpful: By Cabinetfever (San Diego Ca United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Thomas T-635HT Renegade Air Compressor (Tools & Home Improvement) Already used this little gem for trimming a custom kitchen. What a great compressor. Has enough storage capacity to run my 15 ga. consistently all day. Very quiet and light-weight; making it a joy to put in the back of the F-250 at the end of a long day. Very quick recovery time as well. Would recommend it to anyone who needs a full day, every day compressor. |
